This place is an amazing combination of a heritage building with modern architecture. My room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. I would not have needed a tub, but it was good to use as a shower. Good quality materials everywhere, including fresh bedlinens and towels. There are many beautiful public spaces where you can sit, including a terrace that I particularly loved. I never had breakfast there, but two nice and unpretentious homecooked dinners. Bonus: drinking water dispensers everywhere, so you do not need to use plastic bottles for once! Nice and helpful staff. Also: perfectly situated near the palace.

We try to find heritage hotels in India. We found Tanjore Hi in Thanjavur which has the heritage quality of an old house but with the flair of a boutique hotel. It’s a special place. And for practicalities, the room was large with high ceilings, hot water readily available for showers or bath and all clean. We had a good meal on the upper floor restaurant which is spacious and full of light. Beautiful open design. Highly recommended. Owner and staff are very attentive and helpful. It’s a short walk to the Royal Palace - don’t miss the art galleries there - and shortish tuktuk ride to the Brihadeeswara Temple.

Great location near to Royal Palace and 25 minute walk to temple. We liked the unusual decor of the hotel with quiet spaces to relax on the first and second floor. The staff were very helpful and the room was clean. We could walk to good restaurant (Vasanta Bhuram) by the bus station in 10 minutes with a local Bombay lassi stall near the restaurant that served the best cold lassi with fermented butter milk on top!

It's a really interesting old house with a lot of character. The rooms were pretty dark but spacious and cool. Comfortable beds and a bathtub in our room which was a nice change from showers (has shower fitting over bath). Drinking water available from glass bottle & big dispenser instead of endless small plastic bottles. Very near the old Thanjavur Palace, within the old part of the city, fairly convenient for tea, restaurants & shopping.

Rooms are nice, comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help with any eventual and small inconveniences. The position is also good. Recommended :)

This hotel is tastefully decorated, with very clean large rooms. The location is very convenient and the hotel has a few common areas to relax in (eg. roof terrace)

Lovely boutique hotel with history. Liked the design of rooms and aesthetics of public areas. Room was very large and bathroom had a bath. Also did food - had a lovely breakfast each day which was an extra cost. Staff friendly and helpful.

old house beautifully and creatively modernised while preserving old design very good location ARM next door walking distance to palace staff were helpful front door is left open 24 hours and a person at desk not sure safe for solo traveller as I travelled by car and driver. there is no phone inside the room to call reception

Excellent ambiance. This hotel has the old flavor of Tanvoor. U can feel that. Its not just a hotel its a heritage. Even in the room they maintained heritage look.
